New Mexico State Funds

Governor Bill Richardson signed into law HB 8 that provided $25.5 million for low-income home-heating relief. The Human Services Department, the state's LIHEAP grantee, received $23 million for the low-income home energy assistance program and $2.5 million went to the Department of Finance and Administration for weatherization programs statewide. Tribes were given a portion of the funds and some carried over funding through 2008.

Each year the state contributes $800,000 from the general fund to supplement WAP
