Geographical data defines the boundaries of an area in which the properties for a multiple property group or theme study exist or are likely to exist. For the purposes of National Register properties and NHLs nominated under the Earliest Americans Theme Study for the Eastern United States, the Northeast project area boundaries encompass the states of Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Vermont. The Southeast project area includes the states of Alabama, Arkansas, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia, and the Midwest project area is comprised of the states of Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
