The U.S. Department of Energy purchases products with the most
environmental attributes possible, especially those attributes
designated by Congress for purchase—DOE’s Preferred
Procurement products: biobased, energy and water efficient,
recycled, alternative fuels and vehicles, and non-ozone depleting.
This site is primarily for DOE sites to use as a source of information
for transitioning to more environmental products.
The site offers information on purchasing requirements, how
to imbed the requirements into Environmental Management Systems,
purchasing approaches, availability of products, education tools,
tracking/reporting, and success stories/technology transfer
and benefits information so sites can quickly find the required
products that meet all the performance, regulatory, cost, etc.
