Restoring Native Habitats Through The "War on Weeds"
BLM LogoGroup shot of Fort Ord restoration crewSCA Logo

In June of 1999 a new group of soldiers became active on Fort Ord that call themselves the "weed warriors." The weed warrior program which is the product of a pilot project partnership between the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the Student Conservation Association (SCA) was formed on the belief that the invasive weed problem is a "war" that can only be fought with the help of an informed and active public. For the last two years BLM/SCA weed warriors have been in charge of creating a program to enlist community "weed warriors" through education and outreach.  To learn more about the program and to inquire about obtaining "Weed Warrior" resources call Bruce Delgado at 394-8314 or email: bdelgado@ca.blm.gov.
