Located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains Sangre De Cristo Range at elevation 6200 ft on the Purgatoire River, and bordered by the historic Santa Fe Trail, Trinidad Lake State Park offers boating, hiking and camping year round. Trinidad Lake is stocked annually with rainbow trout and offers largemouth bass, channel catfish, crappie, and walleye. Anglers may fish at any point along the shore or lake except boat docks and ramps. A Colorado fishing license is required.

Trinidad Lake is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineer managed lake, however the recreation areas and campgrounds are managed by Colorado State Parks. Federal Recreation Passports for these areas are not accepted.

Geocaching is permitted on Corps lands only with express knowledge and approval of the project manger for that project. For project manager contact information please click the projects contact us link.
