Albeni Falls Visitor Center
Visitor CenterTwo miles east of the Washington/Idaho border on US Highway 2, the Albeni Falls Visitor Center is the place to start your visit to the area. Informational brochures are available, or talk to a ranger for ideas on places to visit and things to see. Here you can overlook Albeni Falls Dam, enjoy your lunch, stroll through the visitor center exhibits, and take a tour of the dam. Drinking water and restrooms are available.
 
Hours of Operation

Summer (June through August): Open every day - 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Winter (September through May): Open every day - 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (except Christmas and New Years).

  • See a great blue heron eye to eye
  • Watch the movie "The Power and Play of the Pend Oreille"
  • Learn about the dams in the Columbia River Hydropower System
  • Spy on an osprey nest
  • Play the "Control the Flow" game.
 
Tours
Drop-in tours are available at 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. during the summer season. The tour includes a walk with an interpretive ranger across the dam spillway and to the powerhouse generator viewing area. This tour takes approximately 45 minutes. Community groups may schedule a tour by calling 208-437-7224 two weeks in advance. These tours include the movie "The Power and Play of the Pend Oreille" and a walk with an interpretive ranger across the dam spillway and to the powerhouse generator viewing area. Outdoor Amphitheater
Programs will be presented during the summer season. Stop in at the Visitor Center for a schedule of events.
