SEATTLE--The Corps of Engineers is sponsoring free workshops on its recently issued regional general permits, which allow for more consistent and predictable permitting of small over-water projects in Washington waters.
The Regional permits that will be discussed at the workshops are:
- Regional General Permit 1 - installation of watercraft lifts throughout Washington State
- RGP 3 - construction of residential overwater structures in the Lake Washington system
- RGP 4 - construction of residential piers and minor bank stabilization in the Pend Oreille River and Lake Chelan
- RGP 5 - construction of residential overwater structures in the upper Columbia and lower Okanogan Rivers
- RGP 6 - installation of residential overwater structures in inland marine waters.
The full text of the permits is available at the Corps' website (http://www.nws.usace.army.mil). The application process and requirements of the permits will be discussed at the workshops. Waterfront property owners, marine construction firms, environmental consultants, local shoreline permit coordinators, and area habitat biologists from the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife are encouraged to attend.
