Functions

Enterprise Development (ED) supports the SSE mission by:

• Defining, in collaboration with the military services, academia, professional associations, and industry, what constitutes effective systems engineering (SE) practice as applied to defense systems acquisition.
• Capturing that practice and formulating policy, guidance, education and training, and other tools to enable Defense acquisition professionals to apply these practices for program and mission success.
• Conducting outreach and related activities across the acquisition and systems engineering communities to promulgate effective practices and assess ongoing SE application issues.
• Providing support for related initiatives that impact all acquisition programs such as corrosion prevention and control, logistics support, standards, open systems, configuration/data management, quality, reduction in total ownership costs (R-TOC), and value engineering.
