COLONEL JIMMY E. MCMILLIAN

Colonel Jimmy E. McMillian is commander of the 10th Air Base Wing, United States Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo.  He commands more than 2,100 military, civilian and contract personnel who conduct all base-level support activities.  These activities include security, civil engineer, communications, logistics, military and civilian personnel, financial management, services, command post, chaplaincy, equal opportunity and the hospital, all of which support nearly 4,000 cadets and a total military community of approximately 20,000 personnel.  He is responsible for a $130M annual operating budget.  In addition, he is the Crisis Action Team director during USAFA contingency operations.     

Colonel McMillian earned his commission after graduating from the Air Force Reserve Office Training Corps program at North Carolina Agriculture and Technical State University in 1981.  During his career, he has served in a variety of security forces operations and instructor assignments in Montana, Texas, New Jersey, Nevada, Washington D.C., North Dakota and Turkey.  He was assigned to major command headquarters positions in Virginia and Illinois.  He has also been a security forces squadron commander and security forces group deputy commander and group commander.
