SEAWAY 10 secured at the Locks

Contact: US Army Corps of Engineers, Patricia Graesser (206) 764-3760 Dec. 15, 2000, 10:40 a.m. SEATTLE--The Army Corps of Engineers has towed the tug SEAWAY 10 to a secure area at the Chittenden Locks in Ballard. During last night's high winds, the vessel broke free from a Shilshole Bay buoy and ran aground. The Corps and Coast Guard had determined at the end of November that the vessel presented a potential hazard to navigation. On Dec. 1 the Corps towed the tug from Whidbey Island back to Shilshole Bay, where it previously had been tied to a buoy and abandoned.
