OLDTOWN, Idaho--The Army Corps of Engineers will provide camping opportunities, daily tours of the dam and campfire programs during the summer of 2007 in our recreation areas along the Pend Oreille River and at the Visitor Center at Albeni Falls Dam. The Corps of Engineers’ campgrounds will be opening Saturday, May 12th.  Corps campgrounds include Priest River (better known as the “Mudhole”), Albeni Cove, Riley Creek and Springy Point.  The campgrounds offer boat ramps, beaches, picnic shelters, playgrounds, and restroom facilities with showers.

Call 1-877-444-6777 or 1-518-885-3639 internationally to make your reservations or use the Internet at http://www.recreation.gov.  To reserve the picnic shelters at Priest River and Riley Creek call Albeni Falls Dam at 208-437-4617.  The cost is $35 per day.

The Visitor Center will be open seven days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., beginning Memorial Day through Labor Day.  Exhibits provide hands-on enjoyment with movies of the Albeni Falls Project, the Columbia River System and the Ice Age Floods for viewing.  Tours of the dam will be daily at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2 p.m. through the summer season.

Campfire programs are for campers, day users and local residents.  These programs are scheduled for most Friday and Saturday nights from Memorial Day through Labor Day.  The programs will include a variety of topics including talent contests, nature and wildlife shows, water safety programs and interactive games like Survivor.  For program listings contact the Visitor Center at 208-437-4617 or the campground bulletin boards.
