SEATTLE -- Officials from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be holding an informational meeting for stakeholders in the Kootenai Valley River Basin on Sept. 6, 9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Kootenai River Inn, 7169 Plaza Street, Bonners Ferry, Idaho
The purpose is to meet with local government officials and stakeholders to review the Spring Run-Off Event on the Kootenai River.
The Corps is the lead agency in the presentation, and other federal agencies have been invited to participate to provide information that will be helpful to create understanding and clarification of issues involved with river operations. Joining the Corps will be NOAA Northwest River Forecast Center, NOAA National Weather Service, NOAA Fisheries, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
Record temperatures, rapid snow melt and significant rain storms contributed to flooding in Kootenai Valley in June. The spring flood event saw the Kootenai River reach 1766.56 feet above mean sea level, more than 2.5 feet over floodstage at Bonners Ferry.
