Chief Joseph Dam-Rufus Woods Lake Draft Master Plan for Public Review

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Ms. Terri Taylor, at (206) 764-6552 Oct 4, 2001 Chief Joseph Dam SEATTLE--The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Seattle District, has completed the draft master plan for Chief Joseph Dam-Rufus Woods Lake Project. This civil works master plan is the basic planning document that will guide and direct the future use, development, and management of the natural, recreational, and cultural resources management programs where the Corps of Engineers has responsibility, including preservation, conservation, restoration, maintenance, management and development of government lands, waters and associated resources. This master plan will be revised and updated as needs and conditions change. It does not evaluate the operational aspects of Chief Joseph Dam. If you would like to review the draft plan and provide comments, a copy is available at Chambers of Commerce and libraries at Brewster, Bridgeport, Chelan, Okanogan, Omak, and Wenatchee Valley. It is available at Chambers of Commerce only at Coulee Dam, Grand Coulee, Mansfield, Pateros, Twisp, and Winthrop. A copy is also available for review in the Recreation and Natural Resource Management Section at the Chief Joseph Dam project office in Bridgeport, Wash. The review comment period ends on November 5, 2001.
