Purpose
The Department of Defense (DOD) offers two markets for small businesses seeking defense contracting and defense subcontracting opportunities. The first market encompasses prime contracting opportunities. The second market encompasses subcontracting opportunities with major prime contractors.

NOTICE TO LARGE BUSINESSES: Small Business concerns, HUBZone small business concerns, small disadvantaged, small women-owned and small service disabled veteran-owned business concerns looking for subcontracting opportunities can be found at the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) or through the Procurement Technical Assistant Centers or PTACS. Native American Indian-owned Businesses State of Washington's Office of Minority/WBE's Large Business Subcontracting Program Statutory Requirements can be found at FAR 19.702(a)).

The Small Business size definitions (FAR 19.001) are available from the FAR site at GSA. The industry size standards are published by the Small Business Administration and are available at http://www.sba.gov/size/indexsize.html.

For a translation of the SIC codes to NAICS code, a cross-reference can be found at http://www.census.gov/epcd/naics/nsic2ndx.htm.

All businesses must be listed in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR). Lack of registration in the CCR database will make an offeror ineligible for award. For assistance, contact the Procurement Technical Assistance Center near you.
