Dewdrop Recreation Area

Finding the area

Dewdrop Recreation Area is located on the Longhouse National Scenic Byway (Forest Road 262), about four miles south of the junction with State Route 59 at Kinzua Point. It is on the western shore of Kinzua Bay, which extends southwest from the main body of the Allegheny Reservoir.

Facilities

Dewdrop has 74 family campsites, each containing a picnic table, fire ring, and tent pad. Flush toilets, pressurized water fountains, a trailer dump station, and hot water showers are also available. A children's play area, a concrete boat launch with parking, and an interpretive trail complete the list of facilities. Firewood may be obtained from dead and down trees.

Other features

The Longhouse National Scenic Byway offers outstanding views of the Allegheny Reservoir along the western shore of Kinzua Bay. This road runs from SR 321 on the south to SR 59 on the north. The access road to Jakes Rocks is two miles north of Dewdrop. This scenic overlook provides views of the Kinzua Dam and has an attractive picnic area. Also, Elijah boat launch three miles to the south, has accessible bank fishing, trail, pier, courtesy dock and toilets.

To reach Kinzua Beach, take FR 262 north to SR 59, turn right and cross the bridge (about four miles). Here you'll find shady picnic sites, swimming in the Allegheny Reservoir, a grassy beach, and a bathhouse with showers and a snack concession. Right across SR 59 from the beach is the Kinzua-Wolf Run Marina, with boat docking and rentals, boat launch, and a restaurant.

Campsites are nicely shaded from each other with lush vegetation.
