Partnering to Fight HIV/AIDS
The CDC Global AIDS Program (GAP) began supporting Swaziland in 2004, and opened
an office there in 2007. CDC works as part of a unified US Government HIV/AIDS
team, and provides technical assistance and financial support to develop
and expand innovative HIV counseling and testing approaches and strengthen tuberculosis/HIV programs.
CDC also strengthens national laboratory monitoring and evaluation, surveillance, and health
information systems.
In 2003, US President George W. Bush announced the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). CDC GAP Swaziland is a part of this unified US Government effort to turn the tide against the epidemic.
