Partnering to Fight HIV/AIDS
The CDC Global AIDS Program (GAP) China office opened in 2002. CDC assists the
Government of China by strengthening strategic information efforts, including
surveillance, and building laboratory capacity. CDC also supports voluntary
counseling and testing (VCT), behavior change, and care and treatment activities
and programs.
In 2003, US President George W. Bush announced the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and CDC GAP China became a part of this unified US Government effort to turn the tide against the epidemic.
