CDC Global HIV/AIDS Activities - Asia
Partnering to Fight HIV/AIDS
Since 2003, the CDC Global AIDS Program Asia Regional Office has been working to
strengthen HIV, sexually transmitted infection, and TB prevention and treatment
in the Asia region by strengthening human capacity development; coordinating key
regional activities; addressing populations not covered by national programs,
such as migrants; and informing policy issues from a regional perspective.
In 2003, US President George W. Bush announced the President's Emergency Plan
for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the Asia regional office became a part of this
unified US Government effort to turn the tide against the epidemic.
