Project Synopsis2-Dec-2003 -- Synopsis PROMIS Comment Number 30The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Los Angeles District and the City of Fillmore in Ventura County, California, propose to construct a levee to protect the City of Fillmore's wastewater treatment plant from inundation and bank erosion. The wastewater treatment plant is located along the north bank of the Santa Clara River between Sespe Creek and the Highway 23 bridge. The facility is subject to damage from toe erosion and inundation due to overtopping of the existing earth berm and from backwater effects. The plant was threatened by severe flooding in 1998, but thanks to quick flood fighting by the Corps of Engineers it was saved. The Section 205 study shows that the construction of a soil cement bank protection will provide 100-year flood protection.
