Project Synopsis24-Feb-2005 -- Description The project is located along the Santa Ana River in southwestern San Bernardino in the City of Colton between La Cadena Drive and Mt. Vernon Avenue. The proposed project site consists approximately 25 to 30 acres of disturbed/early successional scrub habitat in the historic floodplain of the Santa Ana River. It provides low habitat value for a limited number of wildlife species. Restoration would provide habitat for listed threatened and endangered wildlife species including Least Bell?s vireo, southwestern willow flycatcher, California gnatcatcher, and San Bernardino kangaroo rat. It would also foster habitat for Santa Ana woolly star, a federally listed endangered plant. The proposed project would restore scarce, high-value wildlife habitat to an area that has been heavily disturbed by stream channelization, urbanization, and agriculture. All three of these habitat types are of high priority for restoration.
