(6/30/2005) The Corps solicits bids in a full and open competition for the Main Base Runway Replacement project at Edwards AFB, CA . View the solicitation.
Scope of Work
The project has incremental fundings from FY06 to FY08 for a total of PA $103,000,000. Phase I will construct a temporary asphalt runway with associated taxiway connectors 2,500 ft from the existing main runway to support the repair of the existing main runway. The new runway must be capable of supporting large aircraft, including the B-52. Phase II and III will repair the existing main runway.
• Phase 1 (06) – Design all 3 Phases/Construct
Construct new temporary asphalt runway with associated taxiways A, B, & C
• Phase 2 (07) – Construct
Construct first half of existing PCC runway
• Phase 3 (08) – Construct
Construct second half of existing PCC runway
• Transition sections must be designed for NASA shuttle landing requirements and lack of federal funding between the three phases
