Corps to Host Media at Camp Elliott Ordnance Project
Los Angeles – Project managers and safety experts for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be on site at the Camp Elliott-East Elliott ordnance removal project at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2003, to provide background information and explain the project’s status and safety procedures. Representatives will identify the area where the agency’s investigation will take place, discuss specifics on our detection process, describe what types of ordnance (if any) may be at the area under investigation and describe the procedures to neutralize and remove any ordnance, if necessary. Media members who wish to learn firsthand about the Corps’ ordnance responsibilities in general and about the current project at Camp Elliott-East Elliot in particular should be at the project site at the end of Mast Blvd. south of Highway 52 no later than 9:45 a.m. Please see map below.
