CORPS AND COUNTIES SIGN AGREEMENT TO STUDY SANTA CLARA RIVER

Los Angeles – Acting Los Angeles District Engineer Lt. Col. John Guenther, Ventura County Supervisor Kathy Long and Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich will hold a press conference for the signing of the $8.2 million Santa Clara River Watershed Feasibility Study on Wednesday, September 29th, 10:00 a.m., at Rancho Camulos in Ventura County.

The Santa Clara River drains the largest watershed in Southern California, traveling approximately 84 miles to reach the Pacific Ocean.  The watershed covers an area of 1600 square miles, divided almost equally between Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. The Feasibility Study will identify flooding and regional flood control solutions; erosion and sedimentation problems; opportunities to improve water quality; and analyze benefits of restoring riparian habitats.
