AGENCIES TO HOLD MEETINGS FOR WATERSHED MANAGEMENT PLAN

LOS ANGELES—The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Los Angeles District and the County of Orange will hold two public meetings to provide information and elicit public input on the Coyote Creek/Lower San Gabriel River Watershed Study. The two meetings, which will have the same agenda, will take place Wednesday, May 11 from 2 until 4 p.m. and from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Brea Civic Center located at 1 Civic Center Circle, Brea, Calif.

The meetings will provide a forum to inform the public of the general scope of the plan and to provide the public an opportunity to raise issues or concerns for the agencies to consider while preparing a Watershed Management Plan for southeast Los Angeles and northwest Orange counties.

The public, as well as federal, state and local agencies are encouraged to participate in the planning process. The public can participate by attending a meeting or by submitting data, information and comments pertaining to environmental, historic preservation and socioeconomic issues to be addressed in the study. Useful information includes, but is not limited to, other environmental studies within the watershed, published and unpublished data that may be relevant to this study area, and issues and alternatives that could be addressed in the analysis.

The watershed to be studied in this plan includes the following cities: Anaheim, Artesia, Brea, Buena Park, Cerritos, Chino Hills, Cypress, Diamond Bar, Fullerton, Hawaiian Gardens, La Habra, La Habra Heights, La Mirada, La Palma, Lakewood, Long Beach, Los Alamitos, Norwalk, Placentia, Santa Fe Springs, Seal Beach, and Whittier, and unincorporated areas.

For additional information about the meetings or about the Watershed Management Plan, please contact the Public Affairs Office at 213-452-3908.
