Colonel Gordon R. Roberts

Gordon Roberts was born on June 14, 1950, the Army’s Birthday, in Lebanon, Ohio. He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1968.
COL Roberts enlisted in the Army, as an infantryman, at the age of 17, three days after graduating from high school. He remained in the service until 1971, completing tours in Germany and South Vietnam. During his tour in Southeast Asia, Gordon received the Congressional Medal of Honor, two Silver Stars, the Bronze Star, two Army Commendation Medals, three Air Medals and other awards for his service. He is currently the youngest living recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Gordon completed his education at the University of Dayton and the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and a Masters of Social Work degree respectively. For fifteen years, COL Roberts worked in the criminal justice system as a Chief Probation Officer and a Court Administrator. Additionally he served as the Director of a residential treatment facility for severe behavior handicapped children.
COL Roberts received a Direct Commission in the Ohio Army National Guard in 1988 and was assigned to the 112th Medical Brigade. He then came on Active Duty in 1991. His past assignments include; 8 years of company and field grade command assignments in Korea, Fort Bragg, Haiti, Fort Gordon and Iraq as well as staff assignments at Hunter Army Airfield, Fort Benning and Kuwait.
COL Roberts' military education includes the Officer Basic Course (OBC), the Officer Advanced Course (OAC), Combined Arms and Services Staff School (CAS3), Command and General Staff College (CGSC), and the United States Army War College.
COL Roberts is married to Alissa Mckinnery of Cincinnati, Ohio, and they have one child Kerri Ellen.
