General Counsel

The Office of the General Counsel furnishes legal advice to the Secretary of the Treasury with respect to his responsibilities as chief financial officer of the Government and overseer of the operating functions of the Treasury Department. The General Counsel is the chief law officer of the Department and, as such, is head of the Legal Division, which is composed of all attorneys proving legal service to all offices and bureaus of the Department.
