Regiment of Engineers selects Popp as honorary chief warrant officer
"Every active duty or reserve Soldier, every military or civilian engineer and every member of the Corps of Engineers family should be proud of the chief's selection. We are all a part of the Regiment of Engineers," said retired Army colonel Jack O'Neill, executive director, Army Engineer Association. Popp was the first engineer warrant officer to achieve the rank of chief warrant officer 5 in the Corps of Engineers. He retired in 2004 as the Army's senior engineer warrant officer after serving for four years as the principal military adviser to TEC's director and the chief of the Operations Division on Army geospatial operations, doctrine and crisis support requirements. He is the recipient of numerous military honors including the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star and the Silver de Fleury Medal.
