DoDDS-Pacific/DDESS-Guam goals for infusing technology into all K-12 curricula are: |

utilize DoDEA curriculum standards with supporting technology standards (National Educational Technology Standards for Students – NETS-Student) when planning units and lessons, |
|
integrate/infuse technology as a support tool in “Backward Design” unit plans and lesson plans, |
|
use technology appropriately within the context of the curriculum and, |
|
support instructional, learning, and assessment strategies in an engaged learning classroom environment. |
|

DoDDS Pacific Initiatives to Promote Technology in the Classroom |
|
use a five part collaboration model involving the school Educational Technologists and Information Specialist to empower teachers to reach the goals listed above. |
|
|
provide educators with learning opportunities focused on the goals listed above through local, on-going training.
|
|
promote internet safety for K-12 students through instruction, student mentor programs, parent programs, and community outreach programs.
|
|
provide an online format through the Blackboard Academic Suite for classroom courses, training educators, and educator or student learning communities.
|
|
showcase through the Pacific Curriculum Technology Showcase student and educator technology products in a variety of ways within the school, district, and area. |
|
integrate a classroom set of notebook computers and a Smartboard as eighteen (18) Pacific K-12 teachers engage students daily in using technology to support curriculum.
|
|
provide K-12 educators with standardized software tools including word processor, presentation, spreadsheets/graphs, database, graphic organizers, maps, student email, desktop publishing, web authoring, multimedia graphics/video, and three online research subscription services. |
