Urban land use was delineated at four different time periods for the Albuquerque area. This information was obtained from aerial photos taken in 1935, 1951, 1973 and 1991. Urban use was designated as having roughly a minimum of three buildings (houses) per 2.5 acres, which was used in the Anderson Level I classification scheme described in USGS Professional Paper 964. The graphic files also show the major roads, railroads and the Rio Grande River for geographical reference. The following table summarizes the total urban area in acres and percent growth.
