The Office of Dietary Supplements offered Travel Awards to young scientists to encourage them to participate in the Dietary Supplement Use in the Elderly Conference on January 14-15, 2003. This conference was designed to provide a forum for exchanging ideas and experiences and for developing an effective and realistic research agenda. Nominees for the travel awards were students pursuing M.S. or Ph.D. degrees or a recent Ph.D. or M.D. engaged in postdoctoral research in the biological sciences. Travel Awards were presented to 36 successful candidates.
