Community-based, non-governmental forestry organizations in the US are supporting a national assessment of non-wood forest products, their commercial harvests, management practices, research and monitoring programs, extension opportunities and obstacles to resource development. This assessment will serve as a definitive background document for current discussions regarding non-wood forest products and will be published as a reference work. The assessment project will establish an enduring nation-wide network on the Internet to link people to sources of information about efforts in local development and management activities involving non-wood forest products throughout the US.
