Agreement between Georgia and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services

On January 13, 2006 HHS Secretary Mike Leavitt and Governor Sonny Perdue signed a Planning Resolution detailing HHS' and Georgia's shared and independent responsibilities for pandemic planning.


Federal Help for Georgia Planning

Georgia received $2,609,920 in phase one funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to use for pandemic planning activities. Georgia received additional funds of $6,433,307 from the revised phase two of Health and Human Services’ local and state allocations. A supplemental $2,024,184 was awarded to help strengthen the state's capacity to respond to a pandemic influenza outbreak. These grants are based on a formula adjusted for population.

State Activities

The state of Georgia, HHS and other federal agencies held a pandemic planning summit on January 13, 2006 with public health and emergency management and response leaders within the state.
