| What | On April 22, the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), will host a Distinguished Lecture in the Science of Complementary and Alternative Medicine. Ralph Snyderman, M.D., of Duke University and currently visiting professor at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), will present "Integrative Medicine: A Foundation for Prospective Health Care." |

Dr. Snyderman, currently a visiting professor at UCSF, is Chancellor Emeritus of Duke University and James B. Duke Professor of Medicine at Duke University School of Medicine. As Chancellor for Health Affairs and Dean of the School of Medicine at Duke, he oversaw the development of the Duke University Health System, one of the most successful integrated academic health systems in the country, and served as its President and Chief Executive Officer. During this lecture, Dr. Snyderman will discuss how the current health care system will be transformed from a reactive to proactive one in which integrative medicine approaches will be some of the needed tools used to prevent disease and treat individuals' health conditions. |
