General Information
Bicycles are permitted on the state and county highways, the roadway across the top of Mohicanville Dam, and the graveled access road in the downstream fishing area.
A public canoe launch ramp is located 4 miles downstream of the dam. For more information on local canoing call The Loudonville-Mohican Area Tourist Association at (800) 722-7588 or on line at  "mohicancountry.org." 
There is no camping at Mohicanville Dam.

Mohicanville Dam is located on Ashland County Road 175, 14 miles South of Ashland and 10 miles North of Loudonville.
Fishing is permitted at the downstream fishing access area. Public hunting and fishing is permitted in the Funk Bottoms Wildlife Area, which is located approximately 2 miles northeast of the dam site consisting of 1444 acres of land between towns of Funk and Blachleyville. Additional information on Funk Bottoms Wildlife Area can be obtained from the Area Manager, Killbuck Marsh Wildlife Area, 1691 Centerville Road, Shreve, Ohio 44676, @ (330) 567-3390 or visit their website @ "www.dnr.state.oh.us/wildlife."
Built in 1935, Mohicanville Dam, a flood control project, is a dry dam with no permanent pool. The dam site is located on the Lakefork of the Mohican River in northeast Ohio, 171 miles above the mouth of the Muskingum River at Marietta, Ohio. The dam is located approximately midway between Mansfield and Wooster in Ashland County. The dam is used exclusively to control flood waters below it. The dam is a rolled earth fill with an impervious core, 46 feet high and 1220 feet long. There are two dikes approximately four miles southeast of the dam site. Spillway elevation is 963.00 feet mean sea level. At this elevation, there would be 31 feet of water behind the dam and 8800 acres would be inundated. Pool of record is 962.35 which occurred on 7 July 1969. For tours of Mohicanville Dam Intake Structure and Flood Control Facilities contact the Project Supervisor @ (419) 368-4712. There are no public restrooms at Mohicanville Dam.

There are no universally accessable facilities at Mohicanville Dam.  The top of the dam is paved and is level which provides a pleasant place for a physically challenged person to be out of doors.

There are no hiking trails at Mohicanville Dam.
No significant historical / cultural areas are present at Mohicanville Dam.
Horseback riding is not available at Mohicanville Dam.
Public hunting is permitted in Funk Bottoms Wildlife Area which is about 2 miles northeast of the dam.  Contact the Area Manager, Killbuck Marsh Wildlife Area, for more information at (330)-567-3390. Public hunting, with written permission, is permitted on a limited amount of Corps owned property at Mohicanville Dam. For more information, contact the Project Office @ (419) 368-4712.
There is no marina at Mohicanville Dam.
Below the dam there is a picnic table & waste receptical under a big tree beside the new parking lot.  Access to this area is by the gravel road beside the office. It has become a favorite place for a quite lunch and is popular with the fishermen.
There are no designated swimming areas available at this project.
There is no Visitor Center at this project.
