Headings List Types

The Headings List includes a column indicating the source of the subject and genre/form headings appearing in online catalog records and search results. These terms are derived from several lists or thesauri, whose short titles appear as part of the Headings List display. These short titles are sometimes a clue to the source of the catalog record or the type of the material it describes.

Some in-process records in the Online Catalog may display subject headings from thesauri or subject heading systems other than those listed below. These headings will not become part of the final catalog record. Information about these thesauri is available online in the MARC Code List for Relators, Sources, Description Conventions.
