Concern for the environment permeates all of our activities and crosses all of our mission areas, consistent with many environmental laws, Executive Orders, and regulations. Consideration of the environmental impact of a potential project begins in the early stages, with input sought from the public, and continues through design, construction and operation. Environmental protection is an essential consideration in all of our projects. Our innovative designs aim to minimize the impact of dredging, provide additional wildlife habitat, and restore wetlands, supplement barrier islands, and promote beach replenishment.
In addition, we have planned and recommended environmental restoration actions at existing federal projects to restore the natural environment.We also have a commitment to restore natural environments suffering from past abuses. SWD strives to serve as an honest broker that balances the needs of industry, users, environmentalists and others in the daily operation of our projects.
