How can I find funding for my youth service organization?
  Question
Do you have funds that I can apply for? Is funding available for youth programs? services?
  Answer

Many Federal agencies fund youth service organizations. These include the Departments of Education, Health and Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Justice, and Labor.

The Administration for Children and Families’ Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) funds programs for runaway and homeless youth, children of prisoners, and youth at risk for early sexual activity. FYSB’s grant programs are as follows:

  1. Runaway and Homeless Youth Programs
    • Basic Center Program
    • Transitional Living Program for Older Homeless Youth, including Maternity Group Homes for pregnant and parenting youth
    • Education and Prevention Services to Reduce Sexual Abuse of Runaway, Homeless, and Street Youth Program (Street Outreach Program)
    • Research and Development
  3. Abstinence Education Programs
    • State Abstinence Education Program
    • Community-Based Abstinence Education Program

Federal grant announcements, including FYSB funding announcements and other youth-related funding opportunities, can be found at Grants.gov. FYSB funding announcements can also be found on the ACF Grant Opportunities Web site.

Many States also have programs that support youth services. To learn about potential funding sources, try visiting the Web sites of your State government and its departments of education and social services.
