| Montreal, 14/05/2007 – The Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) invites you to the 14th Regular Session of the CEC Council and other concurrent events to be held from 26-27 June 2007, in Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico.
During this session, the Council—which is composed of the top environmental officials from Canada, Mexico and the United States—will consider a program of action to address environmental issues facing North America.
The program of events begins on 26 June with a workshop entitled “Environmental Facts, Trends and Scenarios in North America,” organized by the Joint Public Advisory Committee (JPAC). Building on the results of this meeting, JPAC—composed of 15 citizens, five from each country—will provide advice to the Council.
On 27 June, the Council will participate in two public sessions. The first session represents an unprecedented opportunity for the public to attend the Council’s discussion on specific topics pertaining to the CEC’s work program. During the second session, Council members will host a public forum and hear from individuals selected to present oral statements on issues related to the North American Agreement on Environmental Cooperation or the CEC.
JPAC will also hold a regular session on 27 June in order to discuss a potential Advice to Council on the discussions held the previous day. Members of the public are invited to attend as observers.

Financial Assistance/Oral Statements
Please note that attendance to the above meetings is open to all and free of charge. Not-for-profit organizations and individuals may apply for financial assistance to cover travel and accommodation. The registration form, including guidelines for oral statements and financial assistance, is available online. The deadline to register, submit a request for financial assistance and apply to present an oral statement to the Council has been extended to 18 May.
