Montreal, 26/05/2006 – The Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) has extended the deadline to request financial assistance for travel and accommodations to attend the next regular session of Council until 2 June 2006. Applications to present an oral statement before Council must be received by the same time.

The event, to be held at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium, will take place 28 June 2006 in Washington, DC. The public is invited to attend the official opening with host EPA Administrator Stephen L. Johnson and his counterparts from Canada and Mexico, as well participate in a special session with the Council where select members of the public will be invited to present oral statements.

Details regarding this event, as well as the JPAC regular session and workshop on “Renewable Energy Alternatives: Bio-fuels, Solar Energy and Wind Power” on 27 June, are available online at <www.cec.org/council>. Attendance is open to all and free of charge, but not-for-profit organizations and individuals may also apply for financial assistance to cover travel and accommodation.
