Montreal, 16/05/2000 – The Chair of Joint Public Advisory Committee (JPAC) of the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC), Ms. Regina Barba, is pleased to inform you that President Clinton has appointed a new JPAC member to represent the United States, Ms. Serena Wilson.

Ms. Wilson will be a great asset to JPAC given her active involvement in the work of the CEC during the past few years, said Ms. Barba.

Ms. Wilson is an attorney. She coordinated environment and trade policy at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and served as a senior advisor on trade and environment policy to the EPA Council of Assistant Administrators. Ms. Wilson was also the US NAFTA Coordinator for the EPA. In this capacity, she coordinated the development of US policy positions with respect to implementation of the North American Agreement on Environmental Cooperation. During this time, she was an adjunct professor at the Washington College of Law, American University. Previously, Ms. Wilson served as the head of the biodiversity team in the Office of Protected Resources at the National Marine Fisheries Service and as International Trade Specialist in the Office of Trade and Industry at the US Department of Commerce. She also worked in a Washington law firm as an international trade attorney for several years.

JPAC provides advice to the Council of the CEC on all matters within the scope of the NAAEC. It is composed of fifteen members, five from each of the three countries, who are appointed by their respective governments. The members act independently.
