REMINDER: Next JPAC meetings to be held 7-8 December 2000 in Montreal

Montreal, 24/11/2000 – The public is invited to the first public workshop on Submissions History-Lessons Learned, to take place on 7 December. This workshop will focus public input on the Articles 14 and 15 citizen submissions on enforcement matters process with a view to identifying lessons learned. The public is also encouraged to attend the Joint Public Meeting of NACEC's Intergovernmental Advisory Group on Critical and Emerging Trends in North America on 8 December. Both meetings will be held at the Delta Hotel, 777 University Street, Montreal, Quebec.

The Joint Public Public Advisory Committee (JPAC) would also like to remind you that the deadline for providing written comments on submissions history, to help us improve the Articles 14 and 15 process, is extended to 31 January 2001. Public input on this important issue is essential to JPAC.

NACEC was established by Canada, Mexico and the United States to build cooperation among the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) partners in implementing the North American Agreement on Environmental Cooperation (NAAEC), the environmental side accord to NAFTA. NACEC addresses environmental issues of continental concern, with particular attention to the environmental challenges and opportunities presented by continent-wide free trade.

JPAC is a 15-member, independent, volunteer body that provides advice and public input to Council on any matter within the scope of NAAEC.

For more information, the agendas and the registration form for these meetings, please consult NACEC's web site at <http://www.cec.org/jpac> or contact Jocelyne Morin at the NACEC Secretariat: e-mail: <jmorin@ccemtl.org>, fax: (514) 350-4314 or telephone: (514) 350-4366.
