Each year, over 2,200 wildfires burn in the United States. In March 2006,

and damaged over $16 million in property.
To help prevent fires:
Keep flammable materials away from your home;
Clean roofs and gutters regularly to prevent leaves and other flammable
material from building up;
Have a plan to get out of the house and out of the area, if needed;
Follow warnings and evacuation orders; and
Always avoid the path of the fire and don’t travel through smoke
on roadways.
