POLLETT ASSUMES DIRECTORSHIP OF DISA AND COMMAND OF JTF-GNO


ARLINGTON, Va. – Army Lt. Gen. Carroll F. Pollett became the latest director of the Defense Information Systems Agency and commander of the Joint Task Force–Global Network Operations, at Ft. Meyer, Va. Wednesday in a ceremony attended by friends, family and colleagues.

No stranger to DISA, Lt. Gen. Pollett served as the principal director for operations and commander of global operations with DISA’s Global Information Grid Operations Directorate from August 2001 to February 2003.  He comes to DISA from the U.S. Strategic Command in Omaha, Neb., where he served as chief of staff.  His current tenure will include leading both DISA and JTF-GNO as they relocate from Arlington, Va., to Fort Meade, Md. under Base Realignment and Closure provisions.

Navy Rear Adm. Elizabeth A. Hight will continue as the Agency vice director.  She’s been serving as the acting DISA director and commander of the Joint Task Force—Global Network Operations since July, when Air Force Lt. Gen. Charles E. Croom Jr. retired after more than 35 years of military service.

During a distinguished Army career that began in 1975, Lt. Gen. Pollett commanded the U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command/9th Signal Command at Fort Huachuca, Ariz. He also commanded the 5th Signal Command and also served in senior leadership positions with the U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army in Germany. He is a veteran of combat operations in Operations Desert Storm and Just Cause.

Lt. Gen. Pollett's military decorations and awards include the Army Distinguished Service Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal, two awards of the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, and seven awards of the Meritorious Service Medal. He also wears the Master Parachutist’s Badge.
