QMD Areas of Expertise

• Statistical Sampling. QMD Analysts use statistical sampling methodologies to produce defensible estimates for values, item counts, proportions, and percentages along with explicit assessments of the risks in relying on those estimates. These methods also apply to quality assurance projects.


• Statistical Analysis. QMD analysts perform analysis for entire universes as well as for statistical samples. The analyses can include measures of relationship or association, tests for significant differences, and non-parametric statistical methods.


• Population Development and Data Analysis. QMD analysts examine the population data, and convert into the most suitable format for the planned analysis. They also provide assistance in accomplishing any needed corrective actions.


• Survey Design and Analysis. QMD analysts apply survey design methods to develop appropriate documents or electronic instruments for collecting information. They also provide analysis and interpretation of survey results. The survey methods can be used for ad hoc data collection or for statistical projections.


• Operations Research Methods and Review. QMD analysts review and analyze mathematical models used to support DoD management decisions, as applied to strategic, tactical and logistic management. Because of the complexity of most DoD models, they do not perform a formal process of model validation, verification, and accreditation.


• Financial and Economic Analysis. QMD analysts use quantitative methods in financial and economic analysis, including cost/benefit, present value, return on investments, and alternative ways of compounding calculations. They also perform analysis relating to inventory decisions, and to actuarial methods.
