Northern and Eastern Mojave Desert Proposed Route Designation

Welcome to the Proposed Route Designation for the Northern and Eastern Mojave Desert, An Amendment to the California Desert Conservation Area Plan and Environmental Assessment. The guiding principle in preparing this PDF version was to make it as similar as possible to the printed version. For example, page 3-18 on the PDF is identical to page 3-18 in the printed document. To help the reader navigate through this document, bookmarks have been used extensively.

Start with the Table of Contents file - it has bookmark links to all other files. You can navigate throughout the document from this file using the bookmarks.

These are Portable Document Files (.pdf) created with Adobe Acrobat 5.0. These files use bookmarks within the files to navigate through this document. The bookmarks that open new files are shown in blue in Adobe Reader 5.0. Previous versions of Adobe Reader show these bookmarks in black and white, but the bookmark still works and takes you to the appropriate file for the maps, chapters or appendices.

Bookmark links are provided to get back to the file you started from. For example, say you are working in Chapter 2 - Alternatives and want to look at Map 2-1, you would click the bookmark tab, expand the outline until you can see Map 2-1, click on it and the map will open. When you are finished looking at the map, open the bookmark associated with the map and click on bookmark "Back to Chapter 2". You will be back at Chapter 2. Open the bookmark tab and navigate back to where you were originally. You will need to note what page or section you were reading.

PLEASE NOTE : This PDF document is divided into separate files of manageable size -- the bookmarks between different files will work ONLY if your PDF Reader is configured to open within your browser (the way it would be, if set up to easily view PDF files posted on the Web and not just PDF files on your computer). If your PDF Reader opens in a separate window from your browser, you will see the first PDF file -- but when you try to navigate to another file the program will look for it on your computer, not on our Web server. If this happens to you, you can obtain the document on CD-ROM by contacting the California Desert District Office at (951) 697-5200.
