News ReleaseFor Release: June 18, 2008 BLM Oil and Gas Lease Auction Tops $300,000Thirty-six oil and gas lease parcels in Fresno, Monterey and San Benito counties were auctioned for a total of $347,042 in revenues, including administrative fees, by the Bureau of Land Management’s California State Office June 11. TRIO Petroleum, Bakersfield, was the per-acre high bidder at $310 per acre for a 320-acre lease in Fresno County. TRIO also was the highest bidder by total at $99,200. Results by parcel were: BLM is required by law to periodically offer federal lands for lease for oil and gas exploration and development. The oil and gas industry is encouraged to submit an "expression of interest" for federal land parcels in California that have potential for development.
