Welcome to Security Training Operations

Mission and Functions

Since being designated as the Center of Excellence for Security and Safety Professional Development for the Department of Energy, progress has been and continues to be made on the development of the Security Elite Force concept. This concept encompasses the use of advanced training and on-site force-on-force exercises to increase the response capabilities of security professionals. As part of this program, a design document is under development for an Advanced Training and Evaluation Facility (ATEF) to be located at the NTC. The ATEF will provide hands-on experience in tactical operations that exceeds that currently is available. The Security Training Program is continuing to provide training both on-campus and through Mobile Training Teams (MTT). Approximately 100 on-campus courses are scheduled for delivery in FY06. Additionally, the NTC is piloting a new approach for delivering MTTs that will meet site needs in a more efficient, effective manner.
