Research
Sandia’s research and development efforts address the long-term challenge of developing effective new tools to counter chemical and biological attacks. Our program comprehensively addresses the chemical and biological threat and is already enhancing our nation’s homeland security. For example:
- Our pioneering bioscience research provides the underlying foundation for our detection, restoration, and forensics technologies. It also helps us understand risks, threats, vulnerabilities, and consequences.
- Our microtechnology expertise has contributed to creation of integrated systems to detect biological or chemical agents.
- Forensics and attribution techniques help the nation bring perpetrators to justice and better prepare for future attacks.
