From Sea to Shining Sea, a SITES poster exhibition recounting the legacy and history NOAA's Coast Survey, is on view at a city near you!
Here, surveyors heave a weighted line to measure the depths of a harbor in this 1854 watercolor, the introductory panel in the exhibition. Technologies have changed dramatically since then. Today, the Survey continues to collect data on the seas as well as on land to benefit our nation's commerce, security, and marine environment.
