Global Perspectives and Strategies for Education about Standardization Workshop
Gaithersburg, Maryland USA

 Administration Building 101
Green Auditorium

February 21-22, 2008

Standards users and developers in industry, government, and academia need well educated standards experts to reflect current standardization needs and effectively participate in the standards developing process.  Education about standardization is an effort to advance and expand the theory and practice of standardization by informing current and future standards users and participants in the process about: 1) the role and importance of standardization in facilitating commerce and trade; 2) advancing the business of government; 3) facilitating commercialization of technologies; and 4) supporting innovation.

This workshop is presented to promote and support awareness of education about standardization worldwide.  Participants will learn about current activities, exchange and discuss ideas to develop education programs, learn more about the International Committee for Education about Standardization (ICES), and identify strategic areas for future activities.
